To Start....... Here are some great facts about Italy

FAST FACTS ABOUT ITALY

  • There is evidence that some sort of pasta and pizza were already eaten in Ancient Rome. The world’s first true pizzeria, Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba, opened in Naples in 1830.
  • There are thousands of traditional and regional Italian desserts. However, the most famous one abroad, the tiramisù, was only invented in the 1970's. The name literally means "pick-me-up" (metaphorically, "make me happy"), due to two of its ingredients : coffee and cocoa.
  • Italy has more famous fashion designers than any other country, including Gucci, Prada, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, Ermenegildo Zegna, Gianfranco Ferré, Salvatore Ferragamo, Roberto Cavalli, Fendi, Valentino, Trussardi, Benetton...
  • Italian farms produce grapes, potatoes, sugar beets, soybeans, grain, olives, beef, and dairy.

Carefully selected vacation rentals in Italy are our speciality at  "Commendable Rentals"  http://bitly.com/    We have visited them all. Look at some new ideas like Elba, Subiaco, or old favorites like Rome and Venice.

Salve Ashley & husband and welcome to our little group.  I do not have a blog yet, but I often put recipes, among a lot of information about Rome on Facebook.  I appreciate your offer of where to visit in the Marche, because I often get asked by my guests where they should go after visiting Rome.

I have got self catering holiday apartments in Rome, so please get i touch if you or your guests are planning a trip to The Eternal City.

I wish you a nice weekend!

Ciao tutti! I am an American expat in Italy! My husband & I moved here 3 years ago from NYC and opened an organic farm & inn (agriturismo) and cooking school in Le Marche.  I love Italy and have a blog filled with day trips, recipes, festivals and more - http://latavolamarche.blogspot.com

Let me know if you have any questions on where to visit - especially in the Marche Region. Hope to see you in Italy -

Ashley

Hi Teri,

I have nearly ever used Twitter, I am so used to Facebook, but understand that it is becoming always more important also for business.  So Twitter Travellers came as a nice surprise for me yesterday, with all its interesting groups and plans.

My congratulaions to you for the idea and let's hope the number of members will grow fast.

Living in Rome, I can give all the information you want about Italy.  Just give me some ideas of what you think will be of interest.

It would be a honour for me to become your friend.

Best regards from Hanne in Rome
